Biscuits and Gravy. Nothing screams comfort food like sausage gravy. This is one of those recipes that our family asks for again and again. It has become one of those "special day" breakfasts in our household.
It is important to properly brown the flour so you get the deeper flavor that develops.
INGREDIENTS
1 # breakfast sausage
1 small onion
2 T flour
2 c milk
1 T salt
1 T pepper
1 T sage
1 T oregano
1 T marjoram
DIRECTIONS 1. Cook sausage and onion in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sausage is browned and onions are translucent. 2. Add flour to pan and stir until sausage is coated. Cook for 1 minute. Add milk and stir until gravy is thickened. Add salt, pepper and, herbs and cook an additional minute.
